Certain forms exist outside of creation. They precede the universe, precede every tradition that has reached for them, precede every human encounter with them. The equilateral triangle is one such form. The circle is another.

The illuminated works of John Diehl bring these two forms together in a single image. The triangle rendered at monumental scale, by hand, on hand-built canvases. The circle generated as a real orbit of light by a purpose-built mechanical instrument. Two eternal forms. Two complete disciplines. One practice called Eternal Formalism.
